The Private Universities Students Association of Ghana (PUSAG) is pleading for the expansion of their hostels.
The National Executive Council has paid a courtesy to the managing Director of state housing company Limited to have a discourse about how the company can assist the Private institution with infrastructure especially hostel facilities to accommodate free SHS students.
The National President for the Union, Mr. Alswel Annan, explained to the managing Director that, some private institutions do not have hostels to liberate students from external places which may affect their academics.
The managing Director made the executives aware that, the processes have already started with the public institutions, and the University of Ghana, the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology, University of Development Studies and University of Health and Allied Sciences are examples.
He advised the executive council to engage the management of the institutions that need such in structures and feasibility study would be done by the company and the due processes would commence.
Mr. Kwabena Ampofo Appiah, the Director of state housing company Limited therefore applauded the delegation from PUSAG for such a call and added that, the public universities, it is the Vice Chancellors who take such steps but welcoming a student’s union with such an initiative is a very good call.
